Education
Optoelectronics is an economical factor of increasing importance. Its future will depend on highly qualified human resources. Not only younger scientists will be educated in this forefront of technology by performing diploma and doctoral theses, but also technicians and apprentices will be trained. The NanOp partners will make every effort to engage themselves in this sort of vocational training.
The department of physics and astrophysics of the University of Würzburg now offers a whole new Course of Studies "Nanostructuring" (Nanostrukturtechnik).
The Technical University of Berlin plans the foundation of an "International Post-Graduate School of Engineering and Advanced Technologies".
Dissemination
In order to inform the scientific community, potential users, policymakers and the interested public on the activities and achievements ofthe NanOp Consortium, as well as on the evolution of the field ingeneral, the following actions were and will be undertaken:
- Organization of a yearly scientific workshop to be joined by external experts on invitation (Japanese German Symposium on Strategies in Nanotechnology, October 2000)
- Organization of seminars (summer schools, etc.)
- Participation in scientific and commercial fairs (e.g. HannoverFair 2001)
- Publication of newsletters, press releases
