FhM is a legally
independent affiliated company of the Fraunhofer Society (FhG), which is the
largest organisation for applied research and innovation in Germany. As a speciality,
Fraunhofer Management was designed as a consulting subsidiary, not as an additional
research institute of the Fraunhofer network. FhG is acting world-wide with
more than 8.000 employees in more than 50institutions and covers a wide range
of key technology fields. As the FhGis one of the founders of the European Association
of Contract ResearchOrganisations (EACRO), FhM is further able to draw on all
available Europeanexperience in the field of R&D.
Founded in 1990, FhM soon started to focus its activities on formingan integral
concept of consulting in the fields of innovation and technologypolicy and management.
The experts of FhM combine scientific and industrialknow-how. Teams of economists,
scientists, lawyers, sociologists, managementand financial experts, computer
specialists and other highly specialisedexperts assure an integral consulting
concept. Together with an externalpool of experts FhM is able to guarantee high
competence in different economicand technological contexts. FhM often acts as
Management Agent in complexprojects, co-ordinating highly specialised (national
as well as international)experts, organising events and managing the project’s
budget activities.Special experience is provided e.g. in economics, science
and technology,innovation policy and management, in scientific and technical
fields, realisationof specified R&D activities, institution building and
evaluation, inorganisational and techno-economic studies as well as with technology
transfermatters and marketing of R&D results.
FhM started its business with services for innovative R&D institutes: technical
services and administrational assistance. In the meantime, thecompany has built
up high competence in technology evaluation and assessment,founding and restructuring
of R&D institutes and innovation centres,building and construction
management for R&D infrastructure,planning and realisation of technology
centres as well as financial managementand co-operation of R&D institutes
with industry. Innovative methods,case oriented solutions and the know-how and
support of more than 50 appliedR&D institutes in Germany, USA and Asia make
FhM an interesting partnerfor problem solving for innovation either as direct
consultant of institutionsor as policy consultant in questions of infrastructure.
Currently the FhM is the coordinating partner and project manager ofa large
“BMBF-Leitprojekt”.
